Certification Qualifying Criteria

There are several pre requisites for companies to apply for certification under the National Mark of MALAYSIAN BRAND scheme. The pre-requisites may differ according to the company and the nature of business.

MSME Status
 
The business must have a valid MSME Status Certification (not applicable to non-SMEs).

SME Competitiveness Rating for Enhancement (SCORE)
 
A minimum of 3-Star rating under the SCORE Programme, which is still valid (not applicable to non-SMEs).

Quality Certifications

The business must be certified to one of the following:

  • ISO 9001, MS 1900, HACCP, ISO 22000, ISO/TS 16949, ISO 13485, CMMI (Level 3)
  • Accredited to ISO/IEC 17025 (for laboratories)
  • Registered to GMP (Pharmaceuticals)

Business Registration

The business must be incorporated or registered under one of the following:

  • Companies Act 1965 (Act 125)
  • Registration of Business Act 1965 (Act 197)
  • Certificate(s) of Practice by Professional Bodies (for service industries only)

Malaysian Equity Requirement
 
The business must have at least 60% Malaysian equity ownership.

Legal Operating Premise
 
The business must be operating from a legal premise.

Registered Malaysian Brand
 
The business must be own registered brand of Malaysian origin.

Strong Business Performance
 
The business must demonstrate strong financial performance over the last 3 consecutive years, covering aspects like sales, profit, and cash flow.

Malaysian Identity Representation
 
The business must portray a Malaysian identity through its company name, brand name, or logo, reflecting Malaysian elements, culture, or heritage. It should not promote foreign products or services.

Companies that fall short of the requirements can still submit an application but must ensure that all the required criteria are met at the time of assessment.

SIRIM QAS International will Issue a Letter of Acceptance and Quotation

1st & 2nd Stage Audits are carried out by SIRIM QAS International

Findings are Submitted to the Approval Panel

Issuance of National Mark of MALAYSIAN BRAND Certificate

Client Agreement Renewal Assessment after 2 years
